Listen to the post:
As a fundamental rule we try our best to eliminate hatred from our hearts because we know it only serves to do us harm. However, as observers in this world there are many things we have come to hate. For example (and in no particular order):
- Greed
- Selfishness
- Lust for power
- Homelessness
- Poverty
- War
- Injustice
- The rampant pollution of our earth
- Ignorance
- Education being undervalued
- Not paying teachers enough
- Hypocrisy
- Abuse
Now, this list is far from comprehensive. Every day it seems we hear new and ever worsening stories of the lowest we are capable of producing.
Even though it breaks our hearts to see all this ugliness on display day in and day out, we also understand that without the bad, we wouldn’t know the good. And even though there isn’t much that we can do, on an individual level, to rid the world of all its evil, what we can do is reject them and embody the values that stand in opposition. In that way, in our day-to-day interactions, we can spread the love, the healing, and the caring and in so doing, allow the ripples we create to radiate in waves and hopefully, with every act of kindness, with every bit of love, we can build our way to a better, more beautiful world.
